Job Description
The candidate performs as an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) with primary emphasis on functioning as the Information Assurance Security Officer (IASO). Implements and complies with DODIIS policy pertaining to information assurance and information security.
- Responsible for and provides oversight of ISSO/IA related issues at multiple operating sites.
- Liaisons and coordinates ISSO requirements and related issues with higher HQ. Working in conjunction with the site leadership and determines and works requirements with the ability to prioritize, provide advisement, organize, and multi-task.
- Supervises two to three IAS/ISO personnel when their activities relate to computer and network systems security within the organization.
- Performs computer systems analysis, specifications, development, implementation, documentation, database administration, life-cycle management activities and system security certification.
- Develops, maintains and administers necessary databases to accurately monitor, maintain and manage reporting required by the Command and per regulation for Top Secret and Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) and collateral LAN/WANs, access rosters, audit trails and equipment locations.
- Provides ISSO supervision and oversight over transfer and operation of equipment at fixed sites and during the conduct of numerous off-site U.S. based training exercises. Identifies all ISSO related issues and advises site leadership on how to fix and implement security procedures to remain in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Provides instructions on how to implement changes in regulations received from higher headquarters.
- Identifies, defines and ensures the integration of security in every phase of computer, network and telecommunication systems at numerous classification levels in several different geographical locations, both in garrison and off-site. Provides direction, oversight and advisement during the transport and operation of equipment during multiple training events and exercises.
- Ensures communications for the transfer of equipment, the security of equipment while away and the return of equipment to Customer is in accordance with regulations pertaining to the level of classified material handled.
- Ensures only those with requisite security and permissions can access different systems.
- Prepares, formulates, coordinates, and staffs a wide variety of operational and administrative correspondence.
- Assists in sustaining operations, to include maintaining office files, preparing administrative reports, and following established policies and procedures.
- Must be intimately familiar with Information Security and how it ties in with the organization, and be able to understand relevant requirements and information security regarding the mission, activities and capabilities.
- Coordinates work with appropriate sections to ensure compliance with regulations and requirements.
- Develop standard operating procedures and policies in support of the section and unit.
- Sets performance standards and appraises employee performance.
- Manages work load versus leave/vacation versus individual goals/desires.
- Assists with the in-processing of students in training, ensuring all requirements from higher are met in a timely manner.
- On occasion, may present a training class to students on Information Systems Security requirements for this organization, to include other related topics as directed.
- Practices and applies OPSEC and security at all times.
